I’d like to make it clear that this app contains spoilers from the manga!

Timeline: Chapter 54; breaking in to save Jean and Christa.

Personality:

In the series, there’s very few screens of Mikasa being without Eren. Adopted by the Jaeger Family after a horrible incident in the past, Mikasa and Eren are much like sister and brother -- though it’s hinted that Mikasa harbors romantical feelings for Eren. Previous to this, when she was younger, Mikasa lived peacefully with both her parents, as a shy but curious girl with quite a normal life. After her parents death and a kidnapping scene ending with Eren breaking in to save her, Mikasa snapped, brewing up into the soldier you see today. This incident also leads up to Mikasa’s undying devotion to Eren.

However, her undying devotion comes on a little too hard, giving Eren a tough time because Mikasa will call out on his bullshit whenever she feels it’s appropriate and baby him to no ends. She’s more of a mother, than his sister, to be honest. But despite Eren’s plans being dumb as hell at times (like, joining the military corps), Mikasa will follow them with no hesitation. Mikasa is an intelligent girl but when it comes to Eren she can get irrational at times, making rash decisions and letting herself be controlled by her emotions.

During the boot camp, it doesn’t take a long time for Mikasa to be marked as a genius. She controlls the three dimensional gear well, she manages to use the blades with class and she’s good in combat as well. Upon their graduation, she ranks first, proving her obvious strength. When Eren, Armin and Mikasa were younger, they would encounter bullies who in the end learnt their lesson and started running away when they spotted Mikasa. Armin was usually the easy target, and while Eren is the type of getting into fights -- the bullies specifically point out “Oh shit, it’s Mikasa” and run off.

Mikasa’s strength is seemingly a combination of wanting to be able to protect the people she cares for, pure willpower, and the result of her snapping (getting a “the stronger will survive” view on life), making her an excellent soldier. When the titans attack, a commander comments that her skills are “worth a hundred average soldiers”, as Mikasa doesn’t seem to have any problems slaughtering titans. Even the armored titans -- while there were bets in the Boot Camp on who were the stronger between Annie and Mikasa, Mikasa ends up being the winner when she takes down Annie in her titan form. It’s a bit more of a struggle than an average titan, but she perserveres in the end.

While Mikasa is loyal, and generally follows the rules, she has a strong sense of justice. When a man is endangering a whole lot of people simply because he’s rich and full of himself, she doesn’t hesitate to step up and tell the mister that this shit does not fly in her neighbourhood, and threaten him on his life if he doesn’t stop immediately and let people pass. She doesn’t give a flying fuck about your rank in society, an asshole is an asshole no matter how much money you have in your pockets.

Even though Mikasa has a lot of strong points, she’s still young and has a lot of flaws and weaknesses. Eren, being the biggest one. When Armin tells her Eren’s dead, her world literally falls into pieces and she’s ready to let herself be devoured by a titan. Although she ends up fighting (because that’s what Eren taught her -- to fight, to live) and eventually gets out of the situation keeping a calm composure and saving her allies. A life without Eren would be very harsh for Mikasa, despite everything. When it’s revealed that Eren wasn’t killed she shows emotions for the first time and bawls. Sobbing and hiccuping, big anime tears. The whole ordeal. When Eren is kidnapped by Reiner and Bertholdt, she puts her face in her scarf and sobs, because she couldn’t protect him. She’s just 15 in a cruel world, after all.

As a person on her own Mikasa doesn’t seem to be interested in much. She talks only when she feels it’s necessary to talk, says what she wants to say and does what she want-- to some extent, as she does listen to superior orders… most of the time. In the most recent chapters of the manga, Mikasa’s turned colder. Whereas she actually did care about her fellow members of the 104th squad, after Annie, Reiner, Bertholdt and later on Ymir’s betrayal, Mikasa’s boiled down to trusting no one but Eren.

Background:
Mikasa @ the SNK wikia

Abilities:

Hand to hand combat: Her exact level of skill in this is not even mentioned, but since Mikasa came out on the top of her class, it’s implied that she handles this exceptionally.

3DMG: Mikasa seems to have no problem wielding her 3DMG, quick to kill titans less than a week after her graduation. She’s got impressive technique, and is mentioned to be a natural even in the start, when they’re in boot camp. Because of this, Mikasa is seen as an valuable asset, said to be “worth a 100 soldiers”.

First Person:
[ The camera is accidentally turned on and viewers are met a literal :|-face. Mikasa's resting face, that is. But she’s actually genuinely curious about this device, but at the same time incredibly dubious. ]

… Hello?

[ It’s not even a greeting anymore: It’s a question. It’s a test, if this thing actually works -- she pauses, taking a moment to think over her following words wisely. ]

Eren?

[ Perfect. ]

Third Person:
Mikasa wasn’t much of a religious girl. She didn’t believe in gods, but few did in the godforsaken world she apparently left. However, the only explanations she had to her current situation were: A.) she was hallucinating, B.) she’d gone insane, and C.) this was life after death. The only thing Mikasa remembered prior to leaving a train and entering this city was trying to fight two titans with a dull blade -- which, she admitted, was an impossible task.

She couldn’t really remember fighting them, but assumed she was killed. The odds of her winning such a battle were simply too low. Looking at her clothes she seemed just fine, though. No signs of being eaten or crushed to pieces by a titan, just specks of dirt here and there. “I’m sorry, Eren.” Mikasa thought out loud. She’d failed him, and when she thought about it she wasn’t sure if she could face him again with that in the back of her head; but at the same time she really wanted to see him, at least once more.

Inspecting the area around her, it wasn’t that different from home either. But what she did realize when she looked at the people surrounding her was the lack of fear. Okay, not everyone seemed like they enjoyed themselves, but one thing was sure: She couldn’t sense the constant fear. Everyone seemed to live their daily lives without expecting titans to break down walls and eat their family-- she felt... safer. For a brief moment, Mikasa wondered if this was what heaven was like.

But she couldn’t relax quite yet, after all she had to find Eren.
